Nebraska's Youth Archery Hunt Program
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

Posted on: 08/04/08 [Comments?]

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for young hunters, interested in bowhunting for big game to take part in the Mentored Youth Archery Hunt Program (MYAHP).

The program pairs young hunters, 12 to 17 years old, with qualified bowhunter education instructors for pre-season scouting, tree stand placement, and hunting during the entire 2008 archery deer season.

"MYAHP is designed for individuals who want to learn what it takes to be a safe, responsible and successful bowhunter, but may not have the resources or means to do so," said Aaron Hershberger, the Commission’s hunter outreach coordinator.

Participants in MYAHP must be certified in Nebraska Bowhunter Education and complete an application/parental release form which is available by calling (402) 471-6144.

For more information on MYAHP visit the Commission's Web site at www.OutdoorNebraska.org and click on Youth Programs.

Montana Muley Hunt
As rifle season came to a close this November in Montana, I began to lose hope of filling my first ever muley tag. Being an Ohio native, this was my first season to ever have an option of shooting a whitetail or mule deer. There was no question; I was going to do everything in my power to add a big bad muley to my score board.
