Nebraska Fall Turkey Permits on Sale Aug. 10th
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

Posted on: 07/29/09 [Comments?]

Turkey hunters may begin purchasing permits for the fall season starting on Aug. 10, according to the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission.

Numerous changes await hunters this fall. They are:

  • -- There is one season – Sept. 15-Dec. 31 – in which hunters may harvest turkeys with either a shotgun or bow and arrow. In the past, shotgun and archery hunters each had specific dates within which they had to hunt.
  • -- Hunters do not need to choose between shotgun and archery permits. By purchasing a fall turkey permit, they may harvest a bird with either equipment.
  • -- There are more days available for hunting. Compared with last year, archery hunters will have an additional 25 days and shotgun hunters will have an additional 35 days to hunt.
  • -- For the first time, turkey hunting will be allowed during the November firearm deer hunting season. While hunting during that deer season, turkey hunters must display at least 400 square inches of hunter orange on their head, chest and back.

Fall turkey permits may be purchased beginning at 1 p.m. Central Time on Aug. 10.

Some things have not changed. A fall turkey hunting permit still allows the take of two turkeys anywhere in Nebraska. They may be taken with a shotgun, bow and arrow, or combination of both. No hunter may purchase more than two fall turkey permits.

First Tennessee Muzzleloader Deer
This picture is of my nine year old son Caleb with his first deer taken in 2008 on our land in Wayne county Tennessee. He took this deer with my .50 caliber muzzleloader on the second day of our muzzleloader season.
