New Fishing and Hunting License Year Begins March 1st
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks

Posted on: 02/21/03 [Comments?]

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks reminds hunters and anglers that March 1 is the beginning of the new fishing and hunting license year. Current fishing and hunting licenses expire on Feb. 28, except for licenses that cover furbearer trapping and mountain lion hunting. New licenses are available at FWP offices or from FWP license providers around the state.

Those who took and passed the bear identification test last year and who purchased a bear license are not required to take the test again. A record of their bear identification certificate is now stored in FWP’s Automated Licensing System. Those who did not purchase a bear license last year will need to take the bear ID test and present the certificate showing that they passed the test when purchasing a license this year that includes bear.

Arizona Javelina with a Bow
Harry Grizzle, age 12 took this Arizona javelina with his Browning bow. It was in Arizona unit 37A. The time was 4:30 in the afternoon. The javelina was 15 yards away and I could not move for 2 minutes because he was looking at me. It was the first javelina I saw this day.
