Getting hunting or fishing license in Mississippi is simple, inexpensive and it's the law.

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks conservation officers wrote 2,575 tickets during the months of May and June and 504 were for no license by residents. With dove season starting Sept. 1, officers will be out in the field and checking for a valid license is a priority. According to MDWFP statistics 27,086 license are set to expire in August.

"People know they must have a license and checking licenses is something we place an emphasis on," said Don Brazil, MDWFP director of law enforcement, wildlife and fisheries. "Not only is it the law, but license sales help fund the agency and its programs. Buying a license is just another way for sportsmen and women to support outdoor recreation in Mississippi."

License sales have an impact on the state and federal level. Federal money is allocated to states based on license sales numbers and Brazil said support by sportsmen and license sales are vital.

"We're thankful we have supportive and conservation minded sportsmen in our state," Brazil said. "Having a current license is not only a law, its part of the driving force that allows the MDWFP to continually be reinvesting in our natural resources."

Buying a license has never been easier. A license can be purchased directly from a license agent, by phone 1-800-5-GOHUNT or online at www.mdwfp.com.

Ontario Turkey Hunting Success
I'm a new Hunter at 44 years and this was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I went out Turkey hunting and I was out about three times, outside a little town in midwestern Ontario Canada. I went and put a decoy about 20 yards in front of me and sat beside a small tree the sun was just coming up, and I sat for about 30 minutes, never heard or seen anything so I got up and moved my decoy walked up and down the field, went and sat back down again, called a couple time and nothing.
