Department of Natural Resources' state park and recreation officials today announced Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park is hosting a Hunters' Harvest Festival Sept. 7-9. This Michigan State Park "GO-Get Outdoors" event is being held to celebrate Michigan's strong hunting heritage and the upcoming fall hunting seasons.
"This weekend is a great way for parents, grandparents or guardians to introduce youngsters to the lifelong pursuit of hunting," said Park Administrator Robert Sprague. "Sign up your beginning hunter up for the hunter's safety program, camp in the park and enjoy the weekend's activities. I can't think of a better way to help a young hunter get started."
All activities for the weekend are free and focus on hunting, trapping, conservation, camping and more.
