Public Hearing for Indiana Deer Hunting Changes
Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources

Posted on: 07/22/09 [Comments?]

A public hearing on a number of potential changes to deer-hunting and hunter-education related administrative rules is scheduled for Aug. 13 at the Canyon Inn at McCormick's Creek State Park.

The park is near Spencer in Owen County. A map is at: IN.gov/dnr/parklake/2392.htm

For a full listing of propose rules to be considered, see IN.gov/dnr/fishwild/2362.htm

Public comments on all of the proposed changes can be sent to the Natural Resources Commission by going to IN.gov/nrc/2377.htm, scrolling to the "Fish and Wildlife: Deer Housekeeping Rule" or "Fish and Wildlife: Youth Deer Season," and clicking on the appropriate link.

All comments must be submitted to the NRC no later than Aug. 17. The comments will be provided to NRC members and DNR staff, and will be posted on the Internet and in a paper docket as part of the final report.

A copy of the public hearing report for each rule package will be available at IN.gov/nrc prior to final consideration by the NRC, which likely will take place Sept. 22. If approved by the NRC, attorney general and governor, the changes will become effective later this year.

First Buck for Pennsylvania 13 Year Old
It was the second day of Pennsylvania deer (rifle) season. It was a little windy that afternoon, but the wind was on our side. My grandfather and I were hunting the edge of a swamp. My little brother and my dad were posted about 1,500 yards NE of us. We were hoping that they would spook something to us. I had my trusty Marlin 32 special. It has taken deer.
