Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources

Posted on: 04/13/07 [Comments?]

Learn turkey hunting basics from calls to decoys to blinds and equipment, at O'Bannon Woods State Park, April 14, 1 to 4 p.m.

Calling demonstrations and proper use of calls will be covered. This workshop, which costs $10 per person, will not get you your bird, but will increase your chances for success. Prizes will be given.

Advance registration is required. To do so, or for a full descriptive schedule of all other Wyandotte Adventure Outings, contact the park's interpretive center, (812) 738-8234, or visit www.interpretiveservices.IN.gov.

O'Bannon Woods observes Eastern Daylight Savings Time. The park is located 10 miles west of Corydon, on Highway 462, off State Highway 62.

Long Range Manitoba Coyote
Most days, a typical coyote hunt for me consists of what seems like endless treks through knee-deep snow, and countless stands spent blowing on hand calls of some sort. Coyote hunting for me has always been about trying to entice the weariest of prey to come out and "play," or for a free meal. This story is of a totally different coyote hunting technique that kind of presented itself, I had no part in calling or enticing my prey on this certain morning, although I tried desperately.
