Preliminary figures from deer check stations around Indiana indicate that
hunters took typical numbers of deer in the early archery hunting season.
Check stations reported 11,091 deer taken as of Nov. 10. That is 6 percent
higher than the 10,467 cumulative harvest reported in the same week last
year.
"The reported harvest is essentially the same as last year," said DNR deer
research biologist Jim Mitchell. "Variations of less than 15 percent
generally are due to random differences in check station reports."
