Nez Perce National Historical Park

Description:
For thousands of years the valleys, prairies, mountains and plateaus of the inland northwest have been home to the Nez Perce people. The Park contains 38 sites, mostly in Idaho, but others that follow a trail from the Wallowa mountains of Oregon, through central Idaho, Wyoming and Montana - 1500 miles all together.

There are two main Visitor Centers, one at Park Headquarters in Spalding, Idaho - 11 miles east of Lewiston and the other at Big Hole National Battlefield, 10 miles west of Wisdom, Montana. Both facilities are staffed year around by personnel who can answer your questions about the local area, the Nez Perce People and the War of 1877.

Directions:
Plane - Air service is available into Lewiston, Idaho, 10 miles west of the park. There is no direct air service to Big Hole Battlefield.


Car - The Park's 38 sites are best visited by car. Most are located on or near state highways and are identified by prominient sighs.


Public Transportation - There is no public transportation in the Park.
