Partnering for an eighth consecutive year with the Rocky Mountain Elk
Foundation, Remington is pleased to announce the 2008 offering of this limited edition
series, the Model 700 XCR (Xtreme Conditions Rifle) RMEF Camo centerfire rifle
chambered in our own high performance, magnum-powered 7mm Remington Ultra
Mag. This annual Model 700 commemorative rifle features the Elk Foundation logo laserengraved
on the floorplate and Remington is proud to donate a portion of the proceeds
from the sale of this rifle to RMEF in support of their mission to ensure the future of elk,
other wildlife and their habitat.
Hunting the majestic bull elk across the rugged and varied terrain of North America
demands a rifle and cartridge up to the task; and Remington delivers with the unmatched
performance of the Model 700 XCR bolt-action rifle chambered in the 7mm Remington
Ultra Mag. A large case capacity on this non-belted magnum allows this cartridge to
reach further down-range with a flatter trajectory and more down-range energy than any of
its 7mm peers. And with the introduction of our performance-tailored Power Level™
ammunition in 7mm Rem Ultra Mag, this rifle/cartridge combo can live up to the extreme
challenges of elk hunting with Power Level II or III and be equally effective for your
whitetail hunt, with less recoil, shooting Power Level I.
The Model 700 XCR platform is our most resilient rifle with its armor-like, multilayer
TriNyte® Corrosion Control System. This exclusive, patented process starts with a solid
stainless steel barreled action that is plated with electroless nickel and a proprietary PVD
(Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. This durable, micro-thin barrier provides superior
abrasion resistance and virtual elimination of corrosion. Next the barreled action is fit into
a weather-defying, synthetic stock with solid-grip, gray overmold on the fore-end and
pistol-grip and is camouflaged with the official pattern of the Elk Foundation, Realtree®
AP HD® which provides maximum concealment regardless of the terrain.
Other features of this high performance bolt-action include our X-Mark Pro™ trigger that
delivers clean, crisp trigger pulls with virtually no creep; 26-inch hammer-forged, clean
barrel; receiver drilled and tapped for scope mounts; hinged floorplate engraved with
RMEF logo and three round magazine capacity; sling swivel studs; and patented,
Remington recoil pad which significantly lessens the felt recoil of this hard-hitting
magnum.
