In an effort to meet customer needs, the Georgia Department of Natural
Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) has extended the deadline for deer
and State Park quota hunt applications until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September
5, 2006. A notice of the change has been posted at www.georgiawildlife.com.
In a year of transition, as WRD moves
all quota hunt applications to electronic rather than paper copies, there have
understandably been some legitimate customer user and technical issues.
Recognizing this, and continuing to try and offer the best customer service to
hunters in the state, WRD has determined to extend the deadline in an effort to
resolve these concerns. WRD also encourages hunters to share this information
with others that may be interested in this opportunity.
In some
cases, the hunter has a pre-existing account. Those who applied for an
alligator, deer (including State Park), turkey or waterfowl quota hunt last
season (2005-2006) have an account created for them that includes their current
quota hunt status. Additionally, those who have either recently completed a
hunter education course or purchased a Georgia hunting license through the WRD
website have an account that has been updated to reflect their current quota
hunt status. Hunters that do not fall into one of those two categories must
set up an account prior to applying for a quota hunt. To apply, visit www.gohuntgeorgia.com and select "Hunting," then "Quota Hunt and Information"
and finally "Georgia's Online Quota Hunt Application
System."
Applicants should follow the directions closely and
completely in an effort to apply for quota hunts. This will facilitate the
Department's effort in trying to assist customers who cannot access their
account because their information is incomplete. Applicants' cooperation and
patience is appreciated.
