Florida to Change Requirements for Game Farms
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Posted on: 02/16/09 [Comments?]

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is asking the public to provide input on proposed rule language regarding the establishment and operation of game farms in Florida.

The following recommended changes have been incorporated into the proposed rule language:

  • * provide exemption to the licensing requirements for individuals purchasing eggs for consumption;
  • * delete the requirement to maintain record of births and deaths:
  • * include a provision allowing the licensee to transport live game to a processing facility for processing;
  • * provide exemption to the license requirement for the possession of 50 or fewer live bobwhite quail or nonnative game birds, except waterfowl. The exemption applies when such game birds are possessed for personal use, consumption, educational or other not-for-sale or exhibition purpose.

Additional information can be found at MyFWC.com; click on the "Tell us what you think" box.

Comments can be electronically mailed to RuleChanges@MyFWC.com; type "Game Farm" on the subject line.

The deadline for submitting comments is at the close of business on Feb. 20. For specific questions, please contact Capt. Linda Harrison at 850-488-6253.

Northern Quebec Caribou Hunt
Some friends asked me to go caribou hunting in northern Quebec. So I said ok, but I've never shot anything in my life. So I didn't know what it was going to be like. We drove 24 hours North East to northern Quebec, it was a crazy trip but when we got there it was just wild, there were Caribou everywhere.
