Florida Bowhunting Class Set for Leon County
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission

Posted on: 09/10/07 [Comments?]

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is sponsoring a Sept. 29 bowhunting class for serious archers.

The class runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Tallahassee Bowhunters Club, approximately one half-mile north of Capital Circle off Springhill Road in Tallahassee.

"The purpose of this class is to provide advanced instruction to the bowhunter on such topics as the fundamentals of bowhunting, safety, hunting techniques, stalking, trailing and sportsmanship," said David Crosariol, regional hunter safety officer.

"Also, even though it is not required in Florida, completion of a bowhunting class is required in at least 14 other states before a hunter can purchase a bowhunting license."

Participants should dress for hunting and bring their own archery equipment, including bows and arrows (field points or target points), a lawn chair, pen or pencil and a packed lunch.

Persons interested in attending this course can register online and obtain information about future bowhunting classes at MyFWC.com/huntered or by calling FWC's regional office in Panama City at (850) 265-3676.

An Amazing Oregon Elk Season
Elk season 2007 was a great year for my party. I had been looking forward to it for many months. We only draw this tag in Oregon every 4-5 years, so when we found out the results of our draw, I was ecstatic to say the least. So, I began getting ready after archery season was done. I was feeling pretty lucky, since I was the only woman in our group to get a mule deer during archery season. Not even my husband got one, so I knew the pressure was on during rifle elk season.
