NRA Women on Target Program Hunt Schedule
NRA

Posted on: 01/10/07 [Comments?]

NRA's Women On Target® program has just released its 2007 roster of hunting excursions. The expanded, 15-hunt schedule is highlighted by three trips to Africa, plus new hunts for elk, bison, and wild turkey.

For the first time since the program’s inception in 1999, Women On Target® is venturing outside the United States for a trio of hunts in South Africa. Each hunt offers the opportunity to take a variety of African game with the help of highly regarded guides and outfitters. Also new to the Women On Target slate are hunts for bison and elk in Nebraska, elk in New Mexico, and wild turkey in Illinois. Popular hunts for Alabama and Texas whitetails, Tennessee boars, and Wyoming antelope also return in 2007.

"With such a wide variety of species, locations and costs this year, the Women On Target program is making it easier than ever for women to start hunting," said NRA Women's Programs Manager Rosemary Herr. "We emphasize a friendly, supportive atmosphere on all our hunts that we know women enjoy."

Women On Target is the country’s foremost hunting and shooting program created exclusively for women. The program, designed for women of all backgrounds and experience levels, has proven to be one of the most popular ways for women to get involved in hunting. Kathy Moczulewski of Warrenville, Ill., a first-time hunter, attended a Women On Target hunt last fall and appreciated the friendly, supportive atmosphere. "There is less pressure on these hunts," she said. "I felt less anxious because of the other women."

Pre-registration is required for all hunts. Low hunter-to-guide ratios, great locations, and competitive prices ensure that each hunt sells out quickly. To register or to learn more about the hunts, call (800) 861-1166, send an e-mail to womenontarget@nrahq.org, or visit Women On Target on its Web site at www.nrahq.org/women/wot.asp.

9 Pt. Indiana Archery Buck
On Wednesday 10/22/08 I was late getting into the woods at about 5:45 pm. I did not use a treestand. I found a couple nice rubs and decided to stand in front of a big oak tree that was on the edge of a hill. I decided to do the fawn bleet call as I had used that a couple days prior and called in several does and a button buck. It was windy so when the wind would stop I would get a chance to use the call.
