Delaware Sportsman Against Hunger Deer Donation Sites
Delaware Division of Wildlife

Posted on: 09/22/06

The Division of Fish and Wildlife again will be participating in the Sportsman Against Hunger Program. All donated deer will be processed, and the meat distributed to participating charitable groups.

Recently, the Division finalized the deer donation locations for participating hunters. The Division maintains five walk-in coolers where hunters may drop off their deer. These coolers are checked daily, and all donated deer are taken to the Sussex County prison where they are processed.

Any deer dropped off at a cooler must be field dressed and registered, with the registration number written on the field tag attached to the animal. This will allow the Division to verify that a deer has been registered. For a list of where the coolers are located please visitwww.fw.delaware.gov/fw/newsStory.asp?PRID=2191

For more information on deer donation sites or any other deer issue, please contact Joe Rogerson, Fish and Wildlife Game Mammal Biologist, at 302-653-2883.

South African Blesbucks
I was several days into a 10-day hunt in the Groot Winterhook mountains of South Africa's eastern cape. I already had an nyala, duiker, eland, baboon, 3 black wildebeest, 2 blue wildebeest, a black springbok and a mountain reedbuck. Next on my list was a blesbuck pair, one male and one female.
