Spring is just around the corner and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced the Wild Turkey Hunting Safety Seminar to be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007. This is an annual event coordinated by the DEP's Conservation Education/Firearms Safety (CE/FS) Program and the public is invited to attend. The seminar is scheduled for 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the Sessions Woods Conservation Education Center, 341 Milford Street (Rt. 69) in Burlington, Connecticut. The program is free of charge.

"Whether you are an experienced or first time turkey hunter or just want to learn more about the elusive wild turkey in Connecticut, the seminar has something to offer," said David Kubas, Coordinator of the CE/FS Program.

Hunters may bring the firearm and ammunition that they plan to use turkey hunting for patterning on paper targets. (Optional and weather permitting).

Topics of discussion will include: the current status of the wild turkey population in Connecticut, hunting safety tips and hunting techniques. New to the program this year will be a segment on bowhunting techniques for wild turkey.

Presenters include certified CE/FS instructors who have extensive turkey hunting experience and DEP Wildlife Biologists. Please call Sessions Woods for registration at 860-675-8130, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Northern Quebec Caribou Hunt
Some friends asked me to go caribou hunting in northern Quebec. So I said ok, but I've never shot anything in my life. So I didn't know what it was going to be like. We drove 24 hours North East to northern Quebec, it was a crazy trip but when we got there it was just wild, there were Caribou everywhere.
