Colorado Seeks Opinions on Escarpment Pronghorns
Colorado Div. of Wildlife

Posted on: 01/02/09 [Comments?]

The Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) will hold two public meetings to gather public comments on the Escarpment Pronghorn herd (GMU's 87, 88, 89, 90, 95 and 951).

January 14, 2009– 6:00 PM, Clarion Hotel (Regency), 701 8th Street, Greeley.

January 15, 2009 – 6:00 PM, Ramada Inn, 22140 East Highway 6, Sterling.

"The Escarpment pronghorn herd is the premier unit of such animals in the northeast region, said Mark Leslie, Area Wildlife Manager for this game management unit. "We are very interested in gathering the public’s input so that the DOW can establish herd size and male to female ratio objectives for a management plan that will ensure the continued health and success of this group."

Those members of the public who wish to comment but cannot attend a meeting can email comments or request a survey from Jennifer Churchill at jennifer.churchill@state.co.us. The deadline for submitting comments on the DAU plan is January 30, 2009.

Georgia Hog Hunt Success
My first hog hunt was truly a day I will never forget. It was Saturday January 17, 2009 and, according to The Weather Channel, the coldest it's been in our area in three years. We were camping on the Altamaha River with a group of friends. I was wearing several layers of clothing, but it was still very cold. My husband and I walked for a couple of hours in the morning and only saw one raccoon although we saw lots of sign that hogs were in the area.
