Moose Management Collaboration 10/15/04
The Province and the Tsilhqot’in Council of Chiefs are working towards an agreement for the collaborative management of moose and other wildlife in the Chilcotin region. In addition to joint game checks, which will survey hunters and their harvested game, First Nations have expressed an interest in providing information to the Regional Hunter Advisory Committee. Some Backcountry Park Areas Re-Open to Hunters 09/12/03
B.C. Parks is re-opening public access to some backcountry park areas after much needed rainfall last weekend. This action follows a Ministry of Forest decision Sept. 8 to lift backcountry travel restrictions in some areas. [Comments?]

Backcountry Travel Advisory 08/22/03
As more than 900 wildfires blaze through the province, the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection is today issuing a backcountry travel advisory for the southern portion of the province including Vancouver Island. As forests and grasslands remain tinder dry through much of the province, B.C. Parks is asking people to avoid venturing into the unsupervised portions of backcountry areas to reduce the risk of being trapped by a fire or accidentally starting a fire. [Comments?]

Permit Required to Import Canadian Hunter-Harvested Game Meat 08/08/03
Hunters can immediately begin bringing wild ruminant meat products intended for their personal use into the United States, but will need a “Veterinary Services Special Permit for the Importation of Hunter-Harvested Wild Ruminant Meat,” along with one of the following: a valid Canadian export certificate for game meat, or a copy of a valid hunting license or a valid hunting tag. $80k RMEF Contribution For Improving Wildlife Habitat 04/18/03
A contribution of $80,000 to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to aid in efforts to revitalize wildlife habitat in the East Kootenay region was announced by East Kootenay MLA Bill Bennett on behalf of Water, Land and Air Protection Minister Joyce Murray.
