Arkansas House Bills Introduced to Benefit Outdoor Recreation
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission

Two House bills that were introduced March 3 by Rep. Robert Moore of Arkansas City have unified the leaders of several state agencies for the benefit of outdoor recreation in Arkansas.

One bill would create the Wildlife Observation Trails Pilot Program, which would be an economic stimulus through the development of wildlife observation trails. A second bill would create the Wildlife Recreation Facilities Pilot Program, which would foster wildlife recreation through the establishment of amenities such as community fishing ponds and shooting ranges.

Scott Henderson, director of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission; Freddie Black, chairman of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission; Richard Davies, executive director of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism; and Butch Calhoun, director of the Arkansas Department of Rural Services, have endorsed the bills. Sixty-one House members also have joined Moore in cosponsoring the bills.

Moore said he was pleased to introduce the two bills that would benefit all Arkansans.

"Since the AGFC reached an agreement last year for leases on Gulf Mountain and Petit Jean River wildlife management areas, there has been discussion about how those funds would be spent. These bills would use those dollars to enhance the lives of the people across the state and help to increase tourism dollars. They will create a win-win situation for everyone."

Successful Muley Archery Hunt
My husband and I always take the first two weeks of archery season off work, so we can get the upper hand on the animals. This year however, Darren had to work out of state the first week, so he didn?t even get to hunt, and I ventured out on my own. We had been getting a lot of promising pictures on the game camera, but none came in while I was there that I wanted.
