AGFC Waives Hunting and Fishing Fees for Hurricane Evacuees
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission

Posted on: 09/14/05 [Comments?]

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission waived state recreational hunting and fishing license requirements for Hurricane Katrina evacuees temporarily living in Arkansas. With thousands of evacuees calling Arkansas their temporary home, the AGFC waived their license requirement so hurricane victims could enjoy all The Natural State has to offer. Director Scott Henderson said, “Although hunting and fishing may be the last thing on evacuees’ minds, we want them to have every opportunity to take a break from their worries in Arkansas’ great outdoors while they are here.” Anyone with identification proving residency in one of the following counties or parishes may hunt and fish free in Arkansas through Dec. 31, 2005:

Alabama counties - Baldwin, Mobile, Pickens, Greene, Hale, Tuscaloosa and Washington.

Mississippi counties - Amite, Forrest, George, Greene, Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, Lamar, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Pike, Stone, Walthall and Wilkinson.

Louisiana parishes - Acadia, Ascension, Assumption, Calcasieu, Cameron, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Iberia, Iberville, Jefferson, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Lafourche, Livingston, Orleans, Pointe Coupee, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. James, St. John, St. Mary, St. Martin, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne, Vermilion, Washington, West Baton Rouge and West Feliciana.

All state wildlife regulations will apply to these temporary Arkansas residents. Arkansas hunting and fishing regulations are outlined in AGFC Hunting and Fishing Guidebooks available at license vendors across the state and online at www.agfc.com.
