Yuma County Considers Transfer of Shooting Park to Arizona
Arizona Game and Fish

Posted on: 11/11/09 [1 Comment]

On November 16, the Yuma County Board of Supervisors will discuss a proposal to transfer ownership of the Adair Shooting Park to the Arizona Game and Fish Commission.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department will give a presentation about its statewide shooting range program and be available to answer questions.

"Yuma is blessed with a very versatile, well run, and well supported public shooting range," said Chief of Shooting Ranges, Jay Cook. "This facility would fit in well to support the commission's commitment to preserve and enhance Arizona's tradition of the shooting sports."

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at 198 South Main Street in Historic Downtown Yuma. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting can be viewed on television on the Yuma County Government Channel, YUMA 77, or from your computer via live streaming coverage at www.yumacountyaz.gov/index.aspx?page=476.

Once available, the Yuma County Board of Supervisors full agenda will be posted at www.yumacountyaz.gov/index.aspx?page=44.

Georgia Hog Hunt Success
My first hog hunt was truly a day I will never forget. It was Saturday January 17, 2009 and, according to The Weather Channel, the coldest it's been in our area in three years. We were camping on the Altamaha River with a group of friends. I was wearing several layers of clothing, but it was still very cold. My husband and I walked for a couple of hours in the morning and only saw one raccoon although we saw lots of sign that hogs were in the area.
