Five lucky hunters from locations across Alberta won in the raffle for prizes given as a thanks for submitting deer heads to the 2005 CWD surveillance testing program. A total of 1356 hunters entered their names in the draw. Of the 5 winners, 4 submitted more than 1 head. Prizes included a framed wildlife print donated by Alberta Fish and Game Association, a spotting scope donated by Wholesale Sports, Edmonton, as well as a rifle scope, a rangefinder and a pair of binoculars provided the Fish and Wildlife Division of Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. Our "thanks" to all those who submitted heads for CWD testing.

South Carolina 'Trick or Treat' Buck Settling into my stand in the early afternoon, I had no idea the delights that Nature had in store for me. Just a few days before Halloween, the kids in the neighborhood would soon be lining up for the treats that were already positioned in the bowl by the front door. Positioned up above a dense thicket that ran along a swamp bottom, I had a decent view of the creek area as it opened up in front of me. From past experience, we knew that does often use this semi-hidden corridor as a travel route.
