2007 Alberta Hunting Draws Information
Alberta Fish and Wildlife Division

Posted on: 06/08/07 [Comments?]

Each year in June, the Fish and Wildlife Division holds lotteries or draws for a limited number of special licences to hunt various species of big game and Merriam's turkey. Only Residents and, to a lesser extent, Non-residents (Canadians) are eligible to submit applications for these draws. A Non-resident (Canadian) must apply with at least one Resident hunter in the draw for each licence for which he or she is eligible (exception: Non-resident Trophy Sheep Draw). The Non-resident (Canadian) must hunt with a Hunter Host if successful in a draw for a special licence.

Information on the draw and how to apply is provided in the 2007 Alberta Hunting Draws booklet. A copy of the booklet is mailed to previous draw applicants (within the last two years) and should be received by the end of May. If you are a first-time applicant or you did not apply on a draw within the last two years, you can pick up a copy of the draw booklet at a local licence issuer, or download a copy from this site in the Portable Document Format (PDF). The download file requires Acrobat Reader® to view and print.

The 2007 Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations will be available in July.

If you have changed your address since your last application, telephone (toll-free in North America) 1 877 289 0999 or visit www.albertarelm.com or fill out a WIN Application form at a local licence issuer .

Information about draw statistics is available through Hunter Information.

Mountain Lion on Fire
No Black Hills mountain lion hunt was more bizarre than the mountain lion that caught fire. David Gray's first lion hunt ended not only with a lion, but also with an unusual story. Gray, a retired South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Conservation Office is an avid hunter and has hunted most areas of the Black Hills. He is probably one of the most knowledgeable persons of game animals in the Black Hills. In preparing for his mountain lion hunt, Gray set up a blind in a brushy thicket a few miles north of Custer State Park.
