Each year in June, the Fish and Wildlife Division holds lotteries
or draws for a limited number of special licences to hunt various
species of big game and Merriam's turkey. Only Residents and,
to a lesser extent, Non-residents
(Canadians) are eligible to submit applications for these draws.
A Non-resident (Canadian) must apply with at least one Resident hunter
in the draw for each licence for which he or she is eligible (exception:
Non-resident Trophy Sheep Draw). The Non-resident (Canadian) must
hunt with a Hunter Host if successful
in a draw for a special licence.
Information on the draw and how to apply is
provided in the 2007 Alberta Hunting Draws booklet. A
copy of the booklet is mailed to previous draw applicants (within the
last two years) and should be received by the end of May. If you are
a first-time applicant or you did not apply on a draw within the last
two years, you can pick up a copy of the draw booklet at a local licence
issuer, or download a copy
from this site in the Portable Document Format (PDF). The download

The 2007 Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations will be
available in July.
