Alaska Board of Game

Posted on: 11/29/06 [Comments?]

The deadline for submitting proposals to the Alaska Board of Game March 2007 meeting is 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006. This is also the deadline for submitting proposals to the Joint Board of Fisheries and Game meeting scheduled for October 2007.

The Board of Game will consider proposals affecting regulations pertaining to hunting, trapping, and the use of game in the Southcentral and Southwestern Regions. These two regions are comprised of Game Management Units 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. The meeting is scheduled for March 2-12, and will be held at the Coast International Inn in Anchorage.

The Joint Board of Fisheries and Game will consider proposals seeking to improve the state’s local fish and game advisory committee system and for identifying the state's "nonsubsistence" areas. The joint board is particularly interested in proposed changes to enhance the effectiveness of the advisory committee system including the size and location of committees and the rules of operation. "Nonsubsistence areas" are areas of the state where dependence upon subsistence is not a principal characteristic of the economy, and are currently identified as Ketchikan, Juneau, Anchorage-Matsu-Kenai, Fairbanks and Valdez. The exact dates and location of the meeting will be announced at a future date.

Proposal forms and detailed information on where to deliver, mail, or fax proposals are available at www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us/bbs/forms/propform.php or contact the Board Support Section Regional Offices at 267-2354 (Anchorage), 842-5142 (Dillingham), or 465-4110 (Juneau). All proposals must contain an original signature, contact telephone number, and address. A fax is acceptable and considered an original. Please note that the proposals must be received by the deadline; a postmark is not sufficient.

Printed proposal books will be made available to interested persons by January, and will be posted on the board's website at www.boards.adfg.state.ak.us.

How to Lose a Good Hunting Stand
A few months ago a good friend of mine moved to San Antonio and I was eyeing that Remington Youth 243 he was about to pack up. I really wanted it to start taking my 9 year old son Zach hunting so we made a deal on the gun. He has been tagging along with me a few years to food plot stands and we have seen a few deer over the years.
