Alaska DFG Will Issue Moose Permits for Minto Flats
Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game

Posted on: 12/26/07 [Comments?]

Registration permits (RM785) for moose hunting in the Minto Flats Management Area in Unit 20B will be issued from 10:00 am to noon on Thursday, January 3, 2008, in Minto, Nenana and Fairbanks.

Beginning at 10:00 am on January 3rd, 40 permits for RM785 will be issued in Fairbanks, 36 permits in Minto and 24 permits in Nenana. Lines will originate outside the door on the north side of the Fairbanks Fish and Game office at 1300 College Road, at Minto Lakeview Lodge, and at the north entrance of the Nenana Tribal Hall at 802 G Street. Individuals must physically maintain their own place in line. Lists of names or numbers will not be honored.

"Moose numbers remain high enough in this area to allow the winter registration hunt to take place again this year," said Area Biologist Don Young. "This is a limited registration permit hunt, and we'll offer only 100 permits for a moose of either sex for the winter hunt in the Minto Flats Management Area."

Permits are issued on a first come, first served basis. Hunters must register in person for permits, and must have a 2008 hunting license in possession. Only Alaska residents qualify for the permits, which will be limited to one per household. If hunters have killed a moose anywhere in Alaska after July 1, 2007, they are not eligible for this hunt.

Hunters with questions can call 459-7206 or 459-7233 for more information.

Idaho Bighorn Crags Ram
As a friend of mine and I climbed a high cliff face that overlooked a giant creek basin, the daunting feeling of the steep terrain came over me and I knew the likelihood of finding rams was not good. After 3 separate trips and 27 total days I had met my match in this country. As a native Idahoan I have hunted throughout most of the state for various big game species but bighorn sheep hunting in the Middle Fork of the Salmon River country is the most grueling hunt I've been on as of yet.
