Alabama Youth Hunt in November
Alabama Dept. of Conservation and Natural Resources

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) announced that Alabama's Third Annual Youth Deer Hunting Days will be held Nov. 11-12, 2006. During these two days, deer hunters statewide have a special opportunity to be mentors by introducing a young person to hunting.

Beginning hunters and experienced hunters have two very important things in common, they both enjoy the excitement and desire to hunt. However, one big difference between the two is that beginning hunters lack much of the needed knowledge and skills. That's where youth deer hunts come in. Experienced hunters (mentors) sharing their love for hunting with kids can create a memorable event and at the same time teach youngsters hunting safety, respect for wildlife and the enjoyment of being outdoors. Young hunters must be less than 16-years old and accompanied by a parent or another adult at least 25-years old who holds a valid state-hunting license. Only the youth may hunt.

"Ensuring young hunters learn the safety, etiquette and ethics of deer hunting is important," said Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Commissioner Barnett Lawley. "The parent/mentor-child hunting experience provides opportunities for adults to share their love for hunting, field experience and create shared quality time together."

During the two-day youth deer hunts youngsters can absorb valuable information and education on Alabama's hunting heritage, the role of hunting in wildlife management, sportsmanship, firearms safety, state hunting regulations, patience and skill.

The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources promotes wise stewardship, management and enjoyment of Alabama's natural resources through five divisions: Marine Police, Marine Resources, State Parks, State Lands, and Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries. Piebald 8 Point Georgia Buck
My father Johnny Sr took this 8 point piebald buck in Hall County Georgia on 12-21-07. I thought it was a once in a life time buck, for a man who is living with so many disabilities. It was taken with a ten point crossbow.
