Preserving opportunities for everyone, not just the privileged is the message that Idaho wants for its hunters. This was the mindset that kept a bill from passing that would have allowed landowners to sell hunting permits for their land. It died on the table today with a 17-17 vote.
Idaho Fish and Game allow landowners to participate in drawings for "Landowner Appreciation Tags." Landowners do provide important habitat for a lot of big game wildlife. Senator Jeff Siddoway sponsored the bill that would have allowed these landowners to sell hunting permits to hunters that wanted to hunt on their land, at any price that the landowner wanted to charge and the hunter was willing to pay.
