The Colorado Division of Wildlife in Grand Junction is looking for information leading to the identification of the person or persons who illegally killed two pronghorn antelope and dumped them in the Orchard Mesa area of Grand Junction.
The abandoned pronghorn carcasses were discovered Tuesday morning, April 12 after a person driving by saw a blue tarp laying in the southwest corner of 30 1/2 and B 1/2 Roads.
Wildlife officers say the pronghorn were likely shot in another location and then dumped in this area. After interviewing people who live near this location, Division officers estimate that they were dumped between 10:30 p.m. April 11 and 8 a.m. April 12.
The DOW is asking any member of the public who might have information concerning this incident, or were in the area and might have observed something suspicious that could help identify those responsible for these crimes, to contact the Division of Wildlife or Operation Game Thief. This could include information about any vehicles, persons or activity that may have been seen in this area.
Operation Game Thief is offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Callers can remain anonymous by calling toll free, 1-877-265-6648.
