This is a very old rifle (pre Revolutionary War) that has passed to us from my wife's family. It was dated as Pre Revolutionary War by a Sotheby's appraiser. Value is not actually really high, but that's of no matter as it is a very neat old piece. Most rifles of this type, from this era, have actually had their barrel trimmed back some, many for use in fighting the British. The length as shown here is over 6 feet total, the barrel being a tad over 58 inches total. The addition of the powder horn is just icing on the cake. As you can imagine, it is very fragile and the attached rawhide strap recently broke. No idea how old that was.
