Youth Turkey Hunts Scheduled
The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources announces that on Saturday, March 12, a week before the regular starting date of spring turkey season, young hunters will have an opportunity to hunt turkey during special hunts held at some WMAs throughout the state.
Youth who have not yet reached their 16th birthday may participate in these special hunts. Each youth must be accompanied by a non-hunting, properly-licensed adult 25 years of age or older, or the parent of the youth.
Wildlife Management Areas which will hold youth turkey hunts are: Autauga, Barbour, Blue Spring, Cahaba River, Choccolocco, Covington, Escambia Creek, Frank W. & Rob M. Boykin, Hollins, James D. Martin-Skyline, Kinterbish, Lowndes, Mulberry Fork, Oakmulgee, Sam R. Murphy, Scotch, Upper Delta (zones A and B) and Wolf Creek.
An additional youth turkey hunt will be held March 26 at Black Warrior WMA, zones A and B.
