New Mexico Leftover Elk, Deer and Javelina Tags Available in August

Youth and adult hunters who missed a shot at a big-game hunting license during this year's annual drawing will have another chance this August when the Department of Game and Fish puts more than 5,000 deer, elk and javelina licenses up for sale on the agency Web site.

Minnesota Youth Deer Hunt Applications Due Aug 20th

Minnesota youth have until Friday, Aug. 20, to apply for 15 mentored deer hunts in October, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

"With a relaxed pace, these hunts provide high-quality introductory experiences where the total focus of the adult is on mentoring the youth hunter" said Mike Kurre, DNR mentoring program coordinator. "Youth deer hunts provide the ideal learn-by-doing experience."

Alabama Now Offers Online Hunter Education Course

The Alabama Division of Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries is the latest state agency to adopt's online hunter safety course which will allow students to attend a hunter education Field Day and obtain their Alabama Hunter Education Certificate. A hunter education certificate is required for most hunters who wish to purchase an Alabama Hunting License.

Texas PWD Needs Hunter Education Instructors

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) will be conducting a free Hunter Education New Instructor Training Workshop Saturday, August 14th, 2010, in Grand Prairie, Texas. The workshop will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the North Texas Education Center, 5411 Robinson Road, Grand Prairie, TX 75052.

Addt'l Youth Archery Deer Permits Available in Utah

If you'll be 18 years of age or younger on Aug. 21, 2010 you can still get a permit to hunt buck deer in Utah this fall. Starting at 7 a.m. on July 8, 2010 a total of 1,500 general statewide archery buck deer permits will go on sale.
