New Mexico Hunter Education Registration Now Online

The Department of Game and Fish has made it easier than ever for youths to register for mandatory hunter education classes. Registration for classes statewide now can be made online using the student's unique customer identification number.

Oklahoma Youth Deer Season Opens Oct. 15

With deer gun season slated for late November, young Oklahoma hunters the chance at a buck and a doe before the rush during the youth deer gun season Oct. 15-17.

The youth season is open to hunters under 18 years of age. Youth hunters must be accompanied by a hunter 18 years or older. Youth hunting with an apprentice-designated license must be accompanied by a licensed hunter who is 21 years old or older who is hunter education certified or exempt.

Montana Offers New Hunting Opportunities in 2010

Montana's deer, elk and antelope regulations—the hunter's bible—is newly formatted this year and includes some new hunting opportunities for deer, elk and antelope for the upcoming season.

"We made the changes in response to requests for simpler, easier to read hunting regulations," said Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks spokesman Ron Aasheim.

Iowa Deer Season Begins Saturday

The first deer hunting opportunities of the year begin Saturday when the youth and disabled hunter deer seasons open.

In 2009, more than 8,700 youth hunters and 250 disabled hunters participated in the seasons, harvesting more than 3,500 deer. All youth season hunters must be accompanied by an adult mentor, and only one youth hunter is allowed per adult mentor.

South Carolina Bluefield/Moultrie Youth Hunt Unit Available

A series of youth draw deer hunts conducted jointly by Santee Cooper and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources will be continued this fall.

Pennsylvania Mentored Youth Hunt Program - Get Involved

Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe encouraged experienced hunters, who have historically helped pass along the state's rich hunting heritage, to consider introducing youths to hunting through the Mentored Youth Hunting Program (MYHP).

Deadline For Oklahoma Youth Controlled Deer Hunts - August 20th

Beginning deer hunters have a unique opportunity to participate in two youth controlled antlerless deer hunts that will take place on private land in Alfalfa and Osage Counties and are scheduled for October and January.

This year 22 youth will be drawn to receive one of the bonus private lands antlerless deer gun permits. To be eligible, youth must have completed their hunter education requirements prior to applying and must be 12-16 years old at the time of their scheduled hunt.

California Offers Apprentice Deer Hunts in Santa Clara County

The application deadline is approaching for young hunters who wish to enter the drawing for two guided apprentice deer hunts at South Valley Ranch. The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG), in cooperation with the California Deer Association, is providing these hunts for two apprentice deer hunters on Sept. 18 and 19. Applications will be accepted until Aug. 30, and the two successful applicants will be notified by Sept. 10.

Idaho Offers One More Chance to Finish Hunters Ed Before Season Begins

Hunter Education courses in Idaho are taught primarily by volunteer instructors who themselves like to hunt. This means that as the hunting season approaches, the chances of finding a Hunter Ed class become more difficult. Fortunately, a couple of options still exist for those who want to get out and hunt for the first time. The Upper Snake Region is offering two field day classes on Saturday, August 28, 2010 for those who will have completed either the on-line course or the workbook option.
