Wisconsin Loses 9 Wolves During Deer Season
State and federal wildlife officials report nine wolves were shot in separate incidents during the recent Wisconsin gun deer hunting seasons and that a $4,000 reward fund has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in the incidents.
Wisconsin Muzzleloader Season Opens Nov 27
People venturing out into Wisconsin woods and fields over the next few weeks should note that while the traditional nine-day deer hunting season in Wisconsin closes on Sunday, Nov. 26, a statewide muzzleloader season runs from Nov. 27 through Dec. 7, deer hunting in the chronic wasting disease (CWD) management zones continues through Dec. 10, and a statewide antlerless only hunt will be held Dec. 7-10.

Deer hunters may want to plan on spending an hour in front of the television from 8 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 9 when Milwaukee Public Television and Outdoor Wisconsin host Dan Small visits their living room with his annual Deer Show.

Youths ages 12 through 15 who plan to hunt in a special statewide youth gun deer hunt on Oct. 7 and 8 will not have to shoot an antlerless deer first in Earn-a-Buck deer management units in order to shoot an antlered deer.

2006 Gun Deer Hunting Season Set
Wisconsin deer hunting seasons will look dramatically different this fall under a trial season structure that, among other changes, eliminates an antlerless-only October gun deer hunt and replaces it with a statewide four-day antlerless-only gun hunt in the second week of December.

Turkey Permits on Sale March 25
Hunting, fishing, trapping and other 2006 licenses and harvest permits for fish and wildlife activities in Wisconsin will go on sale March 10. Over-the-counter sales of spring turkey permits will start at noon on Saturday, March 25.
