At 1:30 p.m., Dec. 12, the Kansas Wildlife and Parks Commission will conduct a public meeting at Cabela's, located in Kansas City, Kan., at the intersection of I-70 and I-435.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss reports from two ad hoc groups. Commissioner Tom Warner will report on findings of a subcommittee investigating public land acquisition needs and funding proposals. Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Secretary Mike Hayden will summarize efforts of a working group that has been reviewing deer management and allocation of deer hunting opportunities. The deer working group, comprising representatives from a variety of organizations, has conducted several meetings since August, collecting public input and discussing future deer management considerations in Kansas.

Time will be provided for public comment on topics that are not on the agenda. The meeting will recess at 5 p.m. and reconvene at 7 p.m., if necessary, to conclude discussion. If notified in advance, the department will have an interpreter available for the hearing impaired. To request an interpreter, call the TDD Service at 1-800-766-3777. Any individual with a disability may request other accommodations by contacting the commission secretary at (620) 672-5911.
