Fall Pig Hunts Offered in Yolo County California

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will conduct eight permit-only wild pig hunts on Bobcat Ranch in Yolo County between Oct. 24 and Nov. 18.A total of 64 wild pig hunters will have access to the private property during two archery hunts, two apprentice hunts and four general method hunts. All are two-day hunts.

Tennessee's Wild Hog Regulations Now in Effect

New regulations regarding wild hog management in Tennessee are now in effect. Changes to wild hog management in Tennessee came as a response to concerns from landowners, the Tennessee Legislature, the Farm Bureau, and Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency biologists.

Wild hogs have been removed from big game status to a non-protected nuisance animal marked for eradication. Wild hogs cause extensive damage to farm crops, wildlife habitat, contribute to extreme erosion and stream pollution, and carry diseases harmful to livestock or other animals as well as humans.

The 2011-2012 Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guide is available online and in print announces the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division.

California DFG Offering Wild Pig Hunts on the Chimineas Unit

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will provide hunting opportunities on the Chimineas Units of the Carrizo Plain Ecological Reserve in 2011 and 2012. This will include additional opportunities for mobility impaired hunters.

2 Convicted of Illegally Importing Wild Pigs Into Kentucky

A Florida man pleaded guilty last week to three counts of illegally importing and possessing wild pigs in Kentucky. State law prohibits persons from possessing and importing wild pigs, or releasing them to run free.

Teddy Wilburn King, 55, of Old Town, Florida, paid $300 in fines plus court costs for bringing wild pigs into Kentucky from Florida. King, who was originally charged on June 16, made his plea a week later in McCreary County District Court.

Hawaii Announces Goat/Hog Hunt

The Department of Land and Natural Resources announces the opening of a feral goat and feral pig control opportunity in the Napali Coast State Park and Hono O Na Pali Natural Area Reserve, portions of Hunting Unit G on the island of Kauai. The areas open to animal control will be between Ho'olulu (3.5 miles) to Kalalau valleys (11 miles). The Kalalau trail will be closed at the 2.5 mile marker but the Hanakapi‘'ai beach and falls trail will remain open to the public. Regular camping permits for Kalalau will not be issued for control hunt dates.

Florida's Juniper Creek WMA Open to Family Hunts in 2011-12

When the 2011-12 Florida hunting season opens, there will be a new public hunting area in Calhoun County with a focus on families and youth, thanks to the efforts of the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) and its partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).

The Juniper Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is on the small side - just 900 acres - but it will be open to five family hunts for deer and wild hogs and one spring turkey youth hunt. A family hunt is open to two young people ages 8-15 and an adult with a quota permit.

Pennsylvania Lifts Protection on Feral hogs

Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe announced he has lifted protection on feral swine in Bedford County and has issued an updated executive order to allow for the incidental taking of feral swine statewide by licensed hunters.

The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) will conduct a permit-only wild pig hunt on Bobcat Ranch in May. This hunting opportunity - under the Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program - will give 56 wild pig hunters access to the private property during two archery periods, two apprentice periods and four general method periods.
