Vermont's Special Opportunity Moose Hunt
The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department holds a free lottery each year for a 'Special Opportunity Moose Hunt' for anyone 21 years old or younger who has a life-threatening disease or illness.
Young people applying for the Special Opportunity Moose Hunt must be sponsored by a Charitable Organization with 503(c) (3) status. Applications are available from the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department's Waterbury office (Tel. 802-241-3700) or from the department's website (VTfishandwildlife.com).
Applications must be postmarked or delivered to Fish & Wildlife's Waterbury office by June 29th. There is no cost for the lottery application or hunting permit.
The Vermont Special Opportunity Moose Hunt program began in 2005. Last year's winner of the hunting permit was 17-year old Kurtis Towery of Forest City, North Carolina.
