Vermont Special Snow Goose Harvest Opportunity

Since 2009 hunters have had the opportunity to pursue snow geese during the spring as a result of a special management action referred to as a “Conservation Order” allowed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and adopted by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board.

Hunter Education Instructor Training Offered in Vermont

Virginia Man Wins Vermont's Lifetime License Lottery

A 41-year old sportsman from Virginia is the lucky winner of a Vermont lifetime hunting and fishing license.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department held its annual License of a “Lifetime Lottery” at the December 14th meeting of the Fish and Wildlife Board in Montpelier. A lifetime hunting and fishing license is awarded to one person per year.

Get Your Youth Hunting Memories Contest Entries in by Dec. 31 to Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is asking young hunters to get their entries for the 2011 Youth Hunting Memories Contest in by the December 31 deadline. Young hunters need only submit a short essay, or artwork, describing their time in the field on a hunt.

Chittenden, Vermont Man Pleads Guilty on Bear Poaching Charge

Jake Duprey, 27, of Chittenden pled guilty on November 14, 2011 in Rutland Superior Court Criminal Division to attempting to take a black bear by illegal means.

Duprey was apprehended on September 20, 2011 by State Game Wardens Lt. Don Isabelle and Dale Whitlock as he was observed checking a baited steel cable foot snare. Duprey admitted to the wardens that he had baited the snare with grain and donuts as well as setting the snare in an attempt to catch a bear.

Five Men Charged after Night of Poaching in Vermont

Vermont State Game Wardens have charged five men in connection with a deer poaching spree that occurred on the evening of Saturday, October 22nd and continued into the early morning of Sunday the 23rd.

After a lengthy investigation, meat from illegal deer was seized from three residences in Bristol Village. Also retained were several deer hides, tools, an electric chainsaw used to cut up the deer, three rifles, and the head of a 7-point buck that was shot illegally. The three rifles used by the poachers were a .22, a 30-30 and a 30-06.
