Turkey Decoy Regulations
Beginning this year, it is legal for hunters to use non-mechanical, non-electronic decoys for turkey hunting during the spring turkey season. The Alabama Conservation Advisory Board adopted a regulation allowing certain types of decoys to be used.
Spring Turkey License Leftover
The 2005 spring wild turkey lottery has been held and 232 licenses remain in seven units. These licenses will be issued only as a first license, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, reports Carrie Whitney, licensing supervisor for the North Dakota Game and Fish Department.
Spring Turkey Hunting Applications Due
Spring turkey season runs April 9-May 15. Licenses are available from all Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks offices and most license providers throughout the state. Hunters who wish to hunt in a special spring male turkey permit area must apply by March 15 for a permit and must purchase a spring turkey license before hunting.
Spring Turkey Hunts for Disabled
Two special spring turkey hunts will be conducted in the scenic Flint Hills region of the state, near Council Grove Reservoir. These hunts are an effort to enhance opportunities for disabled hunters and women hunters.

Turkey hunting is not only about knowing how to use a box call or how to be patient while waiting on the perfect shot opportunity – it also is about knowing that there are several safety precautions that are unique to this hunting experience.
Preseason Turkey Calling Prohibited on WMAs
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) would like to remind hunters that calling wild turkeys from March 1 to the opening day of spring turkey hunts on Wildlife Management Areas is prohibited.
Spring Turkey Drawing Planned
The Department of Game, Fish and Parks is in the process of completing the initial drawing for spring turkey licenses and results should be available on March 4. Anyone who does not already have a 2005 prairie spring turkey license is now eligible to apply in the second drawing for any licenses left after the initial drawing.
Turkey Permits Available Online
Although the spring turkey season is a little more than a month away — April 13-May 31 — turkey hunters across the state are perfecting their calling skills and patterning their shotguns or practicing with their bows.
Spring Wild Turkey Hunts Scheduled at Lake Mendocino
A series of two junior and six general wild turkey hunts, by permit only, are scheduled to begin March 26, 2005 at Lake Mendocino east of Ukiah. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is providing this hunting opportunity in cooperation with the California Department of Fish and Game. Six hunters will be drawn for each hunt.
Spring Turkey Application Deadline
"Residents and nonresidents who want a chance for spring turkey license in the first drawing need to have their paper application postmarked no later than Friday, Feb. 25 or apply online before midnight on Monday, Feb. 28." said Game, Fish and Parks Information Officer John Forney.
