Due to budgetary constraints, only wild turkey hunts will be offered at Lake Sonoma during the 2004-05 hunting season. The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers is providing these hunting opportunities in cooperation with the Department of Fish and Game.

Turkey Hunt Success: The two-day turkey hunts for 2003-04 resulted in 48 hunters taking 12 wild turkeys, with an overall success rate of 25 percent. Junior hunters took five turkeys for 26 hunters or 19 percent success, and 22 adult hunters took seven for 31percent success. These hunts remain very popular with hunters.

There are four, two-day turkey hunts scheduled for the 2004-05 season. Two hunts are scheduled for the fall of 2004, and two hunts for the spring of 2005.

Ten hunters will be drawn for each hunt, and each hunter can take one (1) hunting guest. Junior hunters must possess a junior hunting license, and can take either another licensed junior hunter or a licensed adult hunter. A non-hunting adult must accompany two junior hunters.
