Special Hunts Application Deadline
Each year, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) offers a number of special hunts on KDWP land. Hunters looking for high-quality hunting experiences are encouraged to explore the variety offered by these special hunts. Dozens of specially-planned hunts for upland birds, waterfowl, deer, and 2005 spring turkey are available by application. There is no charge for the hunts, but applications must be submitted by July 15.
Most of these hunts provide opportunities on public areas that are normally closed to hunting. By limiting the number of hunters on these areas, the department provides uncrowded hunts and excellent opportunities.
Most of the hunts are open to all hunters, but some specifically accommodate young or disabled hunters. Descriptions, locations, and hunt dates are outlined in an application booklet available at KDWP offices, county clerk’s offices, and most license vendors. The booklet can also be downloaded from the department’s website, www.kdwp.state.ks.us.
