One of the first signs of spring is the Sioux Empire Sportsmen's Show. And one of the best places for people to get answers to their questions about hunting, fishing and camping is at the S.D. Game, Fish and Parks Department booth at the show.

Staff members from the GFP's Wildlife Division and Parks and Recreation Division will be on hand at the show which will take place from March 6 through March 9 at the Sioux Falls Arena and Civic Center.

"With GFP personnel in one handy location, it's the best time for you to get information about South Dakota's outdoor activities," according to Chuck Schlueter, communications manager for the Wildlife Division.

During the sports show, the Wildlife Division will hand out copies of its 2008 S.D. Fishing Handbook, public Fishing and Hunting Area booklets, hunting license application deadlines, 2008 Conservation Digest calendars and back issues of the department's popular bimonthly magazine.

Free publications from the Parks and Recreation Division includes the 2008 Park Times, the Tatanka, the 2008 reservation brochure and other publications covering a broad spectrum of outdoor recreational activities.

The Parks Division will also have a computer on hand during the show to help guide visitors through the process of making online camping reservations. Visitors will also be able to purchase annual park entrance licenses and Mickelson Trail passes.

Those people who may be unable to make it to the show can find a wealth of information about South Dakota's outdoor offering at the GFP Web site at www.sdgrd.info.
