Tennessee's second Young Sportsman's Deer Hunt in both Units A and B will be held on January 12-13, 2002, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).

Only ages 10 through 16 (as long as they have not reached their 17th birthday) may participate. Each youth must be accompanied by a non- hunting adult who does not need a license but must also wear 500-square inches of fluorescent orange. A hunter education certificate is required along with the appropriate license where applicable.

No more than one deer either-sex may be taken on this hunt. If the youth has already harvested three antlered bucks on statewide hunts, the bag limit is one antlerless deer. An antlerless deer is a buck with less than three-inch antlers or a doe.

Not all wildlife management areas are open for the Young Sportsman Hunt. Only those areas open the same as statewide for deer have this hunt.
