Virginia Extends Deadline for Public Comment

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) and researchers from Virginia Tech's Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation have extended the public comment period on a draft statewide management plan for Virginia's wildlife management areas (WMAs). The policy-level management plan is the culmination of a multi-year process to assess the use of and develop a statewide management plan for Virginia's WMAs.

Montana Has 3 Slots Open on the Region One Citizen Advisory Committee

FWP is seeking volunteer applicants to fill three slots on the Region One Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC). The 12-member CAC is in its 16th year and was established to provide input and guidance to FWP from the public. This is a general advisory committee that works with FWP on many issues and programs.

Michigan DNR Forms Committee for Mentored Youth Hunting Program

The Michigan Natural Resources Commission (NRC) has named a six-member ad hoc committee to bring back recommendations to the NRC later this year for specific rules for the new Mentored Youth Hunt program. The program was established under a law signed by Governor Rick Snyder earlier this year.

Wisconsin Law Allows Right to Carry Concealed Firearm

The National Rifle Association (NRA) Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre and the NRA's Institute for Legislative Action Executive Director Chris W. Cox joined Governor Scott Walker on July 11th as he signed the Wisconsin Personal Protection Act into law. This makes Wisconsin the 49th state to give law-abiding citizens an option to carry a concealed firearm for personal protection.

Utah Deer Study Leads to Proposed Cougar Hunt Changes

A deer study that's underway in Utah has provided two things—better information about the number of adult deer that are surviving from year to year and a chance to manage cougars in a way that should benefit deer the most.
