A specific phone line has been established for hunters wanting an additional game seal for deer hunting in selected areas of southern Ontario, Natural Resources Minister Jerry Ouellette has announced.

"The Ministry of Natural Resources is committed to good customer service and this phone line delivers that," said Ouellette. "Instead of waiting in line at a Ministry office, you can just pick up the phone and make a free call to get that extra seal."

Deer hunters who want an additional seal can get one by calling toll-free 1-800-387-7011, Monday to Friday, between September 9 and September 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The phone line is the exclusive source for additional seals during that time. Additional seals are available for use in areas, where the growing population of white-tailed deer makes extra hunting opportunities possible. The cost of an additional game seal is $33 for residents and $160 for non-residents.

A limited number of additional seals are available in the following Wildlife Management Units (WMUs):

  • Kemptville: 63B, 64A, 64B, 67
  • Kingston: 69A, 70
  • Peterborough: 71, 72A, 73, 74A, 74B, 75

  • Clinton: 85A, 85B, 85C, 86A, 86B

The additional game seal may be used only for archery-taken deer, except in WMUs 63B, 64A, 64B, 82A and 82B, where a firearm or a bow may be used.
