The deadline to apply for New Mexico's oryx hunting licenses and population reduction/depredation hunts for deer, elk, antelope, javelina and oryx is Feb. 1, 2003. The deadline also applies to bear entry permits for some state-owned wildlife management areas and public-land spring turkey hunts on the Valle Vidal and Game Management Unit 2. Hunters may apply for these hunts on Form 2003, available at about 230 license vendors statewide, Game and Fish offices and at www.gmfsh.state.nm.us. Draw permits for bear hunts are available in the Sargent, Humphries, E.S. Barker and Colin Neblett wildlife management areas. Dogs may not be used for these hunts.

Hunters who apply for oryx licenses must submit the entire license fee and nonrefundable $6 application fee with the application. Two hunters now may apply on the same oryx application.

The deadline to apply for elk, deer, antelope, ibex, javelina and bighorn sheep licenses is April 26, 2003.
