O’Bannon Woods State Park Hosts Sportsman Challenge
"Taxidermy and Trophy Mount Care" is Feb. 4 topic.
O’Bannon Woods State Park will launch this year’s Sportsman Challenge Series with a session on taxidermy and trophy mount care on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 1-4 p.m. at the park nature center.
DNR staff will teach the basics of preserving trophy deer, game bird, waterfowl, or fur-bearer, both before and after it has been taken to a taxidermist. Participants will meet some local taxidermists, hear the basic regulations for tagging and processing a trophy, and get an overall understanding of the taxidermy process.
"Bring in your trophy for suggestions on long-term care and repair," suggested Jarrett Manek, interpretive naturalist for O’Bannon Woods State Park.
Cost is $10 per person. Please register in advance by calling 812-738-8234.
