NRP Asks for Help in Shooting

Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) are asking for the public’s help in identifying an unknown shooter that injured a Frederick man Wednesday morning. Austin Baumgardner, 54, was turkey hunting on private land off of Old Frederick Road near the intersection of Devilbiss Bridge Road around 7:15 this morning.

Baumgartner was inflating a turkey decoy and was shot in the back of the head with a 12-guage shotgun from approximately 50 yards away. The shooter fled the scene. Baumgardner was treated and released from a local hospital.
