Registration is open for a unique three-day workshop that helps women enjoy the outdoors with confidence.

The Becoming an Outdoors Woman workshop provides the ultimate outdoor experience and runs from Sept. 9-11.

"This is a great program for women who want to learn new skills while experiencing all that Nova Scotia's great outdoors has to offer," said Sterling Belliveau, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Participants are introduced to archery, shooting and firearms safety during the weekend program. The workshop also includes classes in trout and fly-fishing, bow hunting, trapping and snaring, wilderness camping, kayaking, nature photography, geo-caching and wilderness survival.

The workshop will be held at Mount Traber Bible Camp, Cooks Brook, in Musquodoboit Valley.

Becoming an Outdoors Woman was created in 1991 to encourage women to take part in outdoor activities. The workshop is offered in most provinces and states throughout North America.

BOW Nova Scotia Association partners with the province, the Nova Scotia Federation of Anglers and Hunters and Cross Country Ski Nova Scotia to offer workshops each fall and every other winter.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old to register. Deadline for registration is Aug. 3, or until the program is full. The $229 program fee includes HST, meals, accommodations, instruction and equipment.

This is the third such

This is the third such program that I have read about and the significance of the term BOW just sunk in. "Becoming an Outdoor Woman" I guess I'm a little slow sometimes as I kept trying to make a big archery only connection out of

Anyway this sounds very similar to the one Alaska has going on right now and like I said on that one that this is a great opportunity for learning in general and just soom great outdoor fun as well. They should have more similar such workshops for couples or just hunters in general to get together and learn new skills while while making new friends.
