While the deadline for removing permanent fish houses from North Dakota lakes is March 15, the state Game and Fish Department is urging anglers to get their houses off the ice as soon as possible.

Given the current weather forecast of temperatures in the 50s or 60s through March 15, department enforcement division chief Robert Timian says that ice conditions will deteriorate quickly by the end of the March 10-11 weekend. "Even on lakes where ice remains solid away from shore," Timian said, "by the end of this weekend, getting a vehicle on or off a lake will likely be a challenge.  All anglers are urged to use extreme caution."
