A new Hunter Education Youth Card has been introduced by the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, according to Lt. Tim Coleman, State Coordinator for the Hunter Education Program of DNR's Law Enforcement Section.

Beginning July 1, 2004 , anyone between the ages of 8 and 9 years, inclusive, may obtain a temporary Youth Card by completing an abbreviated Hunter Education Course. This card is only valid for three years from the course completion date. To receive a permanent card, the student must retake the complete course sometime after his/her tenth birthday.

Those receiving a Youth Card must still be accompanied by a licensed adult while hunting.

For more information, contact your local DNR office or call the Hunter Education Hotline at 1-800-243-9968.
